GUWAHATI: The iconic Kaziranga National Park introduced its eagerly anticipated elephant safari in the Kohora and Bagori forest areas on Wednesday, marking an exciting addition to the park's attractions.

The official inauguration of the elephant safari was conducted by the Park's Director, with a crowd of locals and tourists in attendance, witnessing the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This new offering provides tourists with a unique opportunity to observe a diverse range of wildlife species in their natural habitat, further enhancing the overall experience of visiting the renowned park.

Having commenced its current season on October 15, Kaziranga National Park has already welcomed more than 16,000 tourists, reflecting the enduring popularity of this natural wonder.

The elephant safari, originating from the Bagori forest range, is poised to become a major draw for visitors.

Sonali Ghosh, Director of Kaziranga National Park, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are glad that our elephants are ready. We have started elephant safari in Kohora and Bagori range. Many tourists have visited today including foreigners. We hope it will become an attraction for them."

Tourists shared their experiences, with one noting, "I was not afraid or nervous. It was nice, it was very pleasant. It's my first visit to Assam but not to India. I have been here three times."

Another visitor expressed their admiration for the park, saying, "We have come to see the park and the rhinos. The park is wonderful. Such a beautiful, reserved park. It's great out there. Saw rhinos, boars, deer. It's pretty special and my first time in the country and first time here. It's a privilege to be here, have a chance to see the park."

Visitors from Canada also shared their exciting encounters with the park's wildlife, saying, "We saw wild boar, lots of deer, we saw rhinoceros, birds and lots of elephants."

The introduction of the elephant safari is expected to further elevate the appeal of Kaziranga National Park, offering a unique opportunity for nature enthusiasts to connect with the region's remarkable biodiversity.
