KOKRAJHAR: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro on Wednesday met the trainees of mushroom production who boarded a train at Kokrajhar Railway station to have higher training in other States of India. Since the weather of BTC region is suitable for mushroom production, Kokrajhar district has been selected for mushroom in the One District One Product (ODOP) schemes of the Government of India.
As many as 42 trainees on mushroom production from BTC districts were selected for higher training in Shimla and other places. The trainees left for Shimla in Himachal Pradesh for seven days training on production of mushrooms.
Talking to media persons at Kokrajhar Railway Station, CEM Pramod Boro said the government of BTR had taken up various missions to facilitate livelihood to unemployed persons in BTC to bring sustainable development among the rural masses. He said the council government had launched a pig mission, handloom mission, textile mission, milk mission etc. And mushroom mission is also one of its kind through which the government is trying to facilitate livelihood, he said, adding that the trainees will gain knowledge and skill on production of mushroom and they will start their productions in their respective places. He also said the council will provide all necessary help to the trainees to start their business, besides giving them market linkage. He hoped that the trainees would return with good skill and start their production in a big way. Boro was also accompanied by MLA Lawrence Islary and EMs- Reo Reowa Narzihary and Diganta Das of BTC and MCLA Sajjal Kr. Singha. The Mushroom mission is being looked after by MCLA Sajjal Kr. Singha as Director under Bodofa Livelihood Mission for Sustainable Development. MLA Lawrence Islary distributed packets of apples to all trainees and wished them success.
