Assam: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lakhimpur conduct an awareness programme on rabies

Recognizing the fact that knowledge is the power in battle against rabies, public awareness especially among rural masses is needed to ensure protection against rabies along with other deadly zoonotic diseases.

LAKHIMPUR: Recognizing the fact that knowledge is the power in battle against rabies, public awareness especially among rural masses is needed to ensure protection against rabies along with other deadly zoonotic diseases. Engaging communities to build awareness of rabies, and vaccinate dogs to prevent human disease, requires close One Health Collaboration between the human and veterinary health sectors.

Focusing on the above facts, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur conducted a series of awareness programmes on Rabies, encompassing the rural population of Lakhimpur district. The awareness programmes were carried out under the chairmanship of Dr Prasanta Kumar Pathak, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Lakhimpur and they were officiated by Dr Arindam Chakraborty, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science).

On the occasion of World Rabies Day on Thursday, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lakhimpur, Assam Agricultural University pledged to continue creating awareness on this dreadful disease, especially among the rural masses, as a step towards its prevention.
