Assam: Lakhimpur all set to hold Swasthya Sewa Utsav - 2

LAKHIMPUR: “The Lakhimpur district administration and the District Health Services are all set to conduct the Swasthya Sewa Utsav-2 (SSU-2) from November 20 to November 22. Along with the rest of the state, the initiative will be held in the Lakhimpur district on the same days. In the meantime, the Lakhimpur district successfully conducted the SSU-1 in April,” stated Minakshi Perme, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, in charge of Health Services, on Saturday.

She said so while addressing a press conference organised in the North Lakhimpur Press Club regarding SSU-2 in the presence of Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Gunin Kumar Gogoi, Lakhimpur DPM of NHM Debanga Bikash Gogoi, and Media Expert Lip Lakshmi Chetia.

“In the Lakhimpur district, the SSU-2 will be held in a total of 39 medical and health institutions, including one subdivisional civil hospital, nine Community health centres, and 29 primary health centers. Every day during the course of the three-day initiative, assessment and evaluation of the health services provided will be held in 13 hospitals,” the ADC further said. He added, “For the assessment and evaluation, 39 officers of the district have been engaged as assessors. In addition to them, 13 doctors from Tezpur Medical College and Hospital will play the role of assessors. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka and Bihpuria MLA Dr. Amiya Kumar Bhuyan will be present as external evaluators in specific hospitals. On the other hand, the Government of Assam has engaged a total of seven state-level evaluators in the district as external evaluators. These evaluators are Syed Zahid Cristi, Additional Secretary, Power Department; Dharmakanta Mili, Additional Secretary, PHE Department; Bhupen Chandra Das, Joint Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department; Ananda Mishra, SP, Lakhimpur; Jayanta Baruah, ASP, Lakhimpur; Laba Kanta Deka, ASP, Lakhimpur; and Munindra Kumar Deuri, ASP, Lakhimpur”, the ADC added.

On the other hand, Joint Director Dr. Gunin Kumar Gogoi, addressing the media persons, said, “As envisioned by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the event will be conducted in the context of providing quality healthcare services. The health institutions will be assessed on infrastructure, human resources, and service delivery. The targeted health facilities will undergo internal as well as external assessment”.

“There will be a pre-defined checklist against each category of health institutions for the evaluators to complete the assessment of the facilities within the above-mentioned three days. The objective of the programme is to assess the health institutions, their infrastructure, human resources, and the quality of services rendered through independent assessors to attain the quality of services in each health facility,” Debanga Bikash Gogoi, the Lakhimpur DPM of NHM, added.

The Lakhimpur district administration and Health Services have appealed to the people and media persons of the district to extend their cooperation with regard to the smooth conduct of the event on the stipulated days.
