DIGBOI: A recent leak in a gas pipe has triggered fears of a possible mishap among the local people in a locality in Digboi town. This incident happened a day after the leak of fuel from a pipeline belonging to Oil India Limited triggered a scare among the people of a different locality of Digboi Town.

In an incident that took place on Thursday, the leaking of gas from a pipeline triggered fears among the people of the Dhekiyajan locality of Digboi Town. Local people mentioned that the incident took place when the workers were digging to lay a pipe for the Jal Jeevan Mission with the aim of establishing water supply lines to the rural public and giving them access to clean water.

It is not known if the workers were aware of the existence of the gas pipe at the digging site. However, the gas leaking continuously from the pipe has been a major concern for the people in the locality. Another main problem is that the location of the incident lies just next to the major road, increasing the risk of a possible accident.

The local people informed the local police as well as the emergency response team from the Indian Oil Corporation who later arrived at the location.

A day earlier, the spillage of a liquid from an oil pipeline belonging has triggered tensions in a part of the Digboi town of the state. According to local reports, the incident took place in the Christian Basti locality of the Balijan region of Digboi Town of the state. It was informed that a rapture on the pipeline had resulted in the spillage of fuel which started on Tuesday night. Although the information was passed to the authorities, they failed to stop the leak in the first half of Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the spilled fuel had accumulated in the field right next to the main road. This incident has triggered a sharp sensation among the local people who are fearful of any possible incident of fire or any other disaster.
