GUWAHATI: On March 7 and 8, Assam sold a stunning Rs 10 crore and 62 lakh worth of alcohol during the Holi holiday celebrations.

According to reports, alcohol sales totaling Rs 9 crore 58 lakh and Rs 1 crore 4 lakh, respectively, were made on March 7 and March 8.People of all ages came out to celebrate the festival of colors, turning Guwahati's constantly busy streets into a sea of colour.

Holi revelers made the most of the holiday by dousing each other in a variety of powdered colors despite the sun and clouds' flirtation. The celebration, which is one of the most important Hindu holidays, was widely observed throughout the state.

Many people of all ages, particularly teens, participated in the festivities. The on-duty officers checked for troublemakers and kept a watch out for inebriated drivers to prevent mishaps. To avoid any accidents, traffic cops were stationed across the area.

Holi fans gathered in Guwahati's Fancy Bazar to spray each other with brilliant colors while dancing to Holi tunes. Also, there was communal feasting, with mouthwatering treats available at vendors set up on the streets.

Guwahati's Fancy Bazar had a sizable crowd, and when the streets cleared, a trail of color, fun, and memories was left in their wake. People are left with memories to treasure for the rest of their lives as the celebrations come to a close.

Wednesday, a severe automobile collision associated with Holi made headlines.

The disaster occurred in Guwahati, the state capital of Assam, as a result of a head-on collision between two vehicles.

According to the initial reports, the tragedy took place on the Ganeshguri flyover. Witnesses claimed to have seen a Toyota Fortuner collide head-on with a Hyundai i10 on the flyover.

It is not obvious how the two vehicles managed to collide head-on given that the flyover has clearly defined barriers. It's possible that one of the automobiles was driving on the wrong side of the street. There haven't been any reports of fatalities related to the significant accident as of yet.

A traffic police team arrived on the scene to handle the situation and take the necessary steps. The driver of the car that came into the intersection from the wrong side of the street is thought to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
