This operation, led by the Naharkatia Police and Joypur Police under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Naba Bora, resulted in the discovery of 29 soapboxes containing heroin from a four-wheeler.

The illicit drugs, weighing a total of 348 grams, were intercepted while in transit by three women hailing from Arunachal Pradesh. They had reportedly smuggled the narcotics from Dimapur in Nagaland using a train and were en route to their native state, Arunachal Pradesh, with the contraband concealed in a WagonR car bearing the registration number AS06 AJ 5275. The police apprehended the vehicle near Joypur Rainforest Gate, preventing the drugs from reaching their destination.

This operation marked a significant success in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, as the seized heroin had an estimated market value of Rs. 3 crores, underscoring the magnitude of the illicit drug trade in the region.

Following the successful operation, the police took swift action, arresting not only the three women involved in the drug smuggling but also the driver of the vehicle. A case was registered under case number 56/23 at the Joypur Police Station, citing violations of the 21(C)/29 NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the seizure.

The operation underscores the vigilance and dedication of the Assam Police in their relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking and maintain law and order in the state. The successful interception of this significant quantity of heroin serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by the illicit drug trade and the necessity of continuous and proactive law enforcement efforts.

The apprehension of the three women from Arunachal Pradesh, along with the driver, not only prevents the distribution of these dangerous narcotics but also sends a strong message that illegal drug activities will not be tolerated in the region. It highlights the importance of cooperation and coordination among different law enforcement agencies in curbing the drug menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

The Assam Police continue to be at the forefront of the battle against drug trafficking, working tirelessly to disrupt the operations of drug cartels and protect the youth and vulnerable populations from the devastating impact of drug abuse. This successful operation serves as a testament to their commitment and unwavering resolve in this ongoing fight against narcotics and their associated criminal activities.

The joint operation led by Assam's Naharkatia Police and Joypur Police resulting in the seizure of heroin worth Rs. 3 crores and the subsequent arrest of three women and the driver is a significant milestone in the campaign against drug trafficking in the region.
