HATSINGIMARI: The Malakhowa Goan Panchayat organised an event to mark the Meri Mati Mera Desh initiative on the premises of the Malakhowa LP School on Sunday.

In preparation for the 77th Independence Day, the district administration of the South Salmara Mankachar district organised an event as a part of the ongoing Meri Mati Mera Desh initiative. The event was organised under the Malakhowa Goan Panchayat. Steps were taken towards the setting up of the Shilaphalakam on the premises of the Malakhowa LP School.

The students of the locality as well as the teachers and staff of the Malakhowa LP School also braved the bad weather to take part in the event along with the local people.

The nodal officer in the school for this initiative also participated in the event along with several other dignitaries. All those who attended the event took the Meri Mati Mera Desh oath. The oath was administered by the District Agriculture Officer of the South Salmara Mankachar district.

Along with the rest of the country, an event was organised in line with the Meri Mati Mera Desh Program in the district of West Karbi Anglong in Assam. The event was organised in several schools in the district of West Karbi Anglong. These schools included the Hongkram High School, Kuthepi Adasha Vidyalaya, Kolonga High School, Telehor High School, Keroni High School and Doyamukh High School under the Rangkhang Development Block.

Additional District Commissioner Himadri Sekhar Bordoloi and President of the West Karbi Anglong District Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party Rodip Ranghang also attended the event which saw the presence of several other dignitaries. The event began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and the dignitaries offering their homages to the martyrs of the region. The students and teachers of the schools which participated in the event also took an oath during the event.
