GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident in Assam's Guwahati, a man tragically died on the spot after a water tank vehicle hit him.

The incident took place on Tuesday 22 March at Zoo Road in front of the City Centre shopping mall in the Guwahati metropolis. The deceased has been identified as Dwijen Baishya, a resident of Guwahati.

According to reports, the water tank vehicle ran over the man at full speed which resulted in his death on spot.

As informed by the locals the driver of the water tank vehicle was in a drunken state when he hit the man on the road.

The deceased person was working at the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati as per sources.

Later the public at the scene assaulted the drunken driver of the water tank vehicle.

It may be mentioned that several road accidents have been reported on a regular basis from different parts of the city and from different regions of the state.

Road accidents are occurring for different reasons including carelessness in driving, avoiding traffic rules, neglecting safety measures, over speeding and others

Earlier in a similar incident on Monday 21 March, a young man was killed in the Rangiya district of Assam after his two-wheeler hit a roadside tree and he fell into a pond.

The youth identified as Jayanta Kalita died on the spot while he was travelling on a bike from Guwahati to Nalbari on Monday.

In yet another tragic incident a man died in a road accident near Kamakhya temple gate in Guwahati city of Assam due to a collision between 3 vehicles that took place after a Ford Endeavour hit an Alto and Bullet bike.

Apart from the one dead, three other persons sustained severe injuries and were later admitted to the hospital following the accident in February this year.
