BISWANATH: A person from Assam who had left home in search of employment opportunities was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a different state. The deceased belonged to Bihali in Biswanath of Assam.

Kumar Lama from Dekapathar in Bihali left his home on May 22. He was on his way to the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu in search of work. But the very next day, that is on May 23, the family members of Kumar Lama got a call from his number saying that he has fallen ill. He was also not able to board the train as it left the Navabpalem railway station located in the Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh where he got down from the train.

Around 10 PM the family members got another call from his number and an unknown person said that Kumar Lama had put his phone on charging at his hotel and was not doing well. The family members requested the person to somehow take care of him for two days.

But after that, the family members found that the phone number was switched off. Unable to contact the Kumar Lama, his family members approached the Jinjia police station regarding the matter. Assam Police was able to get in contact with Andhra Pradesh Police regarding the matter. The family members were able to get in touch with the local police of Navabpalem and made them aware of the incident.

Upon proceeding with the investigation, Andhra Pradesh police informed that Kumar Lama had passed away under mysterious circumstances on May 24. But the pictures of the person forwarded by Andhra Pradesh police clearly showed marks of injuries in different parts of the body. Thus the family members and the local people alleged that under no circumstances can this be a normal death and that it was a planned murder.

This incident raised several questions regarding the well-being of people of the state who are staying in other parts of the country for earning their livelihood. On the other hand, the family has begged for support from the state government as well as local organisations to help them bring the body back home.
