Assam: Mandatory Covid-19 Testing at Airports, Railway Stations and Road Border Points Discontinued

Notably, voluntary testing facilities for COVID-19 are available across the state in both government and private health institutions, to provide standardized COVID testing reports within 24 hours.

GUWAHATI: Assam government has discontinued the mandatory Covid-19 testing at Airports, Railway Stations and Road Border points.

However, symptomatic patients are requested to test for Covid19 for diagnostic purposes voluntarily at any recognised testing facility.

Therefore, in partial modification of this Department's earlier Orders issued at various times, the following measures are hereby adopted for ensuring the safety and convenience of all the passengers travelling to Assam through the air, railway and road transportation and those who are attending Hospitals for emergency and OPD Services:

1. The mandatory testing on arrival at Airports, Railway stations, Road Border Points etc shall be discontinued. However symptomatic patients are requested to test for COVID for diagnostic purposes voluntarily, at any recognised COVID testing facility.

2. The mandatory testing for COVID for any patient coming to the Medical College Hospitals and other Hospitals for emergency/OPD services shall be discontinued. However symptomatic patients may be requested to test for COVID for diagnostic purposes, as applicable. These instructions are issued in better public interest in view of the evolving situation of the COVID pandemic and shall be liable for change(s) if required as per the SOPs/guidelines issued by the Government of India and the eventual situation of COVID-19 in the country/state. This notification shall come into force wills effect from 15th February 2022.
