GUWAHATI: In an utter inhuman act , a senior lady official of the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) lured and compelled a man to donate his kidney for her ailing husband, with a job and plot of land.
According to reports, Karabi Deka, CGM, APDCL promised Hirumoni Saikia from Nagaon with a job and a plot of land to donate a kidney for her ailing husband.
Saikia alleged that he donated one of his kidneys for Deka's husband but she did not fulfill the promise made to him. On the contrary, after her husband's kidney transplantation, she cut connection with him and never permitted him to meet her.
"I have donated one of my kidneys to APDCL CGM Karabi Deka's husband. She promised to me that she would give me a job and a plot of land. After the kidney transplantation she stopped connecting me," he alleged and demanded steps against the official. Deka's husband is a college professor, sources said.
APDCL has in light of controversies since the suspension Chief General Manager Deepak Kumar Das for misconduct and negligence on duty. Das's ignorance led to stealing of electricity by B.D.S Steel industries Deuduar village, Baihata Chariali, Assam. This led to huge loss of revenue by APDCL.
Similarly, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell conducted an operation in four regions of Guwahati city, arresting at least ten persons in connection with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited cash-for-job fraud (APDCL).
According to sources, three people were arrested in the Jalukbari region, four in the Basistha area, one in the Chandmari area, and two in the Dispur area by the CM's Special Vigilance Cell. According to reports, one officer on special duty (OSD) named Dipankar Dhingiya was also detained as part of the operation. Dipankar has been serving as an officer on special duty at the APDCL since 2006, according to reports. In addition, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell is operating in the Lankeswar region.
