Assam: Marathon race flagged off to mark 77th Independence Day

A mini marathon race was organized by Lions Club of Doomdooma Tea City and Rupai Cantonment of CWS of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force on Sunday to mark the 77th Independence Day.

DOOMDOOMA: A mini marathon race was organized by Lions Club of Doomdooma Tea City and Rupai Cantonment of CWS of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force on Sunday to mark the 77th Independence Day. Commanding Officer of the Force Kundan Prasad flagged off the marathon race. The marathon race started from Rupai ITBP cantonment and ended at Lions Service Center at Doomdooma Town Field. During the marathon race, a vehicle played patriotic songs which energized the runners. Project Chairman of the marathon race Dinesh Goyal said that about 200 youths, children and adults from different zones of Tinsukia district and outside the district participated in the event with full enthusiasm.

In this race, Vikas Sautal was first, Dimbeswar Binjurwal was second and Deepak Tanduwar was third. Considering the active participation of the young women, it has been decided to award Durgamani Bhumij for first, Jasmiri Munda for second and Viveka Lakra for third place. Besides them, seven other runners will also be awarded consolation prizes in both the categories.
