TINSUKIA : The Margherita FRU (First Referral Unit) got a facelift after a 13 bedded Obstetrics and Gynaecology Wing at Margherita FRU was inaugurated on Thursday by the District Commissioner of Tinsukia Swapneel Paul in presence of Chinmoy Pathak ADC Health), Preeti Kumari, SDO( Civil) Margherita and Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Joint DHS Tinsukia.
The DC lauded the initiative of Preeti Kumari and Dr Mridul Gogoi, the Superintendent of Tinsukia Civil Hospital who was specially deputed by the DC to oversee the construction of 13 bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) ward along with updated OT and labour room facility for the safe delivery of the pregnant women and post-natal care. The ward has been constructed in the existing campus of Margherita FRU. Along with the Gynaecology wing of Margherita FRU, the existing Blood Storage Unit will also be made functional 24x7 in the facility.
An attractive wall magazine portraying the achievements of curing chronic patients like Lumber Spondylitis, Cervical Spondylitis, Thoracic Spondylitis, Mild type of Brain Haemorrhage, Facial Paralysis, Hydronephrosis etc and other ailments with Panchakarma therapy was also unveiled on the occasion. It can be mention here that the Gynaecology department recently was in a deplorable state. From April to August 2023, out of 505 delivery cases, caesarean was performed on 298 patients while during the same period one particular doctor performed 190 caesarean deliveries alone who however resigned and left the hospital when questioned, according to a source.
