GUWAHATI: At least seven business establishments were entirely destroyed by a fire that broke out in Dhubri on February 27, Monday.

The fire that erupted in the Gauripur market burned goods worth Rs 1 lakh in addition to destroying several shops. Locals suspect that some miscreants may have sparked the fire by stealing valuables, even if the real origin of the fire is yet unknown.

One of the store owners made the following comment to the media: "We are suspecting that it was done on purpose, as after the loss in the fire, the remaining goods in the shops are also missing."

Afterwards, the fire crew was able to extinguish the fire with the help of nearby residents. The local population requested the authorities to look into the matter and provide support.

At the Imphal Sainik School in Manipur, a major fire started on Saturday, destroying properties worth more than Rs 60 lakh.

The school reportedly caught fire at around 12.30 p.m. after flames from a nearby dry paddy field had spread there. Raman House, a boys' hostel with space for roughly 200 students, was extensively destroyed by the fire, even though there were no injuries.

The fire was immediately put out by the people, the Manipur Police, the Assam Rifles, and the state fire service. Thankfully, when the fire started, the hostellers were out attending their classes.

A big fire that started at Ajanta Path in the Hatigaon neighbourhood of Guwahati on Thursday night left more than 150 households homeless. There were no reported casualties in the event, according to sources.

Almost 150 homes in the area were entirely destroyed when the large fire, which started at around 10.30 p.m., broke out.

It is believed that an electrical short circuit caused the fire to start at the home of Riju Ali. Unfortunately, the precise cause of the fire is still unknown. Up to 15 fire fighters were dispatched right away. For more than three hours, the firefighters battled to put out the fire.
