A massive fire explosion occurred on Friday due to a cylinder blast in a tea stall in the Karimganj market area. 2 shops were burnt into ashes.

KARIMGANJ : A major fire from a cylinder explosion took place in the commercial area of Karimganj. This place is considered to be the largest commercial hub of the City. The area consists of different kinds of business establishments. The cause of the fire is suspected to be from the cylinder blast.

According to sources, the incident took place on Friday at Madan Mohan Akhra Road in Karimganj. Two business establishments were burnt down to ashes in the blast. Fortunately, it is reported that there was no loss of lives or any major injuries in the episode. 

The shop from where the blast occurred belonged to Benu Deb. She was the owner of the shop and it is suspected that the cylinder in her tea stall exploded and the fire broke out. The other establishment that was blazed along, belonged to Mr. Nirmal Dutta.

However, the quick actions from the fire department helped the entire hub from getting burnt to the ground. They were quick enough to reach the spot. Two fire trucks rushed immediately to the place and brought the fire in control. 

Assam has witnessed a number of fire explosions from cylinder leakage, earlier this year. Guwahati, Biswanath Chariali and Karimganj have face this eruptions massively. 7 people had burnt injuries in the fire that broke out in Rehabari residential area recently. A restaurant in Bhangagarh area of Guwahati was completely gutted after a fire caused by cylinder explosion.

A devastating fire broke out at Jagiroad town in the wee hours of Thursday causing heavy loss to property. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, there was an LPG cylinder blast due to the fire in a nearby hotel and that cause damage to property worth more than a crore of rupees. Many shops were totally damaged in the fire. The fire tenders later extinguished the fire.
