Assam: Mid-term conference of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha concludes

The 10th edition of mid-term conference of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha which convened under the aegis of Rangachakuwa branch of the district committee in collaboration with the general public of Rampur, Hatinga was held on Sunday at Kalaguru auditorium located at Rampur, Hatinga in the northern part of Jamugurihat.

JAMUGURIHAT: The 10th edition of mid-term conference of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha which convened under the aegis of Rangachakuwa branch of the district committee in collaboration with the general public of Rampur, Hatinga was held on Sunday at Kalaguru auditorium located at Rampur, Hatinga in the northern part of Jamugurihat. The day-long programme began with planting of a sapling by Dhaneswar Hazarika followed by hoisting of the institutional flag by Sharanan Deva Nath, vice president of the district committee which was followed by smriti tarpan offered by Dulal Nath, secretary of the district committee. A multi-cultural procession was taken out which was inaugurated by Bhaben Chandra Nath, a retired teacher which was followed by a delegates’ session.

The delegates’ session was attended by the representatives of Balipara, Panchmile, Paschim Bihaguri, Karmabir Chandra Nath Sarma, Bahbari, Da-Parbatiya, Padmanath Gohain Baruah, Borjhar Teleriya, Rangapara, Uttar Jamuguri, Rangachakuwa, Khanamukh branches besides the office bearers of the district committee attended the delegates session which was inaugurated by Mridul Kumar Nath. The open session was held with Dr Bhupen Saikia, president of the district committee in the chair. Indra Prasad Saikia, former president of the district committee inaugurated the open session. Puspa Thapa offered a welcome address. Jayanta Madhab Bora, Sahitya Akademi awardee writer graced the open session as a chief guest.
