Assam: Minor Girl Shoots Herself With Father's Licensed Pistol In Dibrugarh

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in Assam's Dibrugarh, a minor girl of 15 years old allegedly shot herself and sustained severe injuries.

The sensational incident took place on Friday 1st April in the Amlapatty area which is the Dibrugarh district of Assam.

The identity of the girl attempting to kill herself is not yet known to the public.

According to reports, the minor girl shot herself by using the licensed pistol of her father kept at their home. On Friday during evening hours, the girl took her father's revolver and allegedly shot herself.

The family members getting informed about the incident rushed the girl to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the injured girl has been admitted to the AMCH (Assam Medical College and Hospital). It is reported that the condition of the girl is in critical condition and is been treated with a proper medical cure.

The reason for what triggered the incident and why the girl took such an extreme step to hurt herself is yet to be ascertained. Notably, it is learned that the father of the injured girl is an authorized arms dealer in the Dibrugarh District.

However, police have been looking into the matter and more information related to the incident is awaited.

It may be mentioned that similar incidents from the Dibrugarh district have been reported previously and the reasons for most of the cases remained unclear.

In another sensational incident that took place a few days ago in the same location, a police constable from Dibrugarh police allegedly shot his own wife with his service pistol.

The woman identified as Jayshree Chetia succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the Assam Medical College and Hospital.

The accused police constable has been identified as Biki Chetia who is a resident of Assam's Sivasagar. He was later captured by the Dibrugarh police for shooting his wife.
