GUWAHATI: Once again sensation prevailed along the greater Salakati area after a businessman was attacked and left two serious injuries within a week in Kokrajhar district by unknown armed miscreants which has been creating a sensation among the citizens in the region.
The businessman, named Bikash Jain, was looted by the robbers who threatened him with weapons.
As per the reports, the gang of robbers came to the shop of the businessman to buy things at 8 PM on Friday.
According to the businessman, the robbers had introduced themselves as cadres of the Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) and demanded money from him. When the businessman refused the demand, the robbers beat him on his head with the butt of a pistol.
The robbers vandalized his shop and took away Rs. 20,000. The robbers also attacked the co-worker of the businessman, Krishna Barman.
As of now, the Kokrajhar police station is looking into the matter. As per the police, 5 people in relation to this incident have been arrested till now.
"Police administration has intensified strict steps against the incidents that have been reported from various places and taking strong security vigil across the entire district", said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro condemned the incident and asked the police administration to take strict steps against the incident.
