GUWAHATI: At the Tulsibari area of Gossaigaon, under the Kokrajhar district, tension peaked on Thursday night after a group of five unknown criminals fired numerous blank shots in the air and stole Rs. 2 lakh in cash from a State Bank of India customer service point (CSP) agent.

The victim has been identified as Biswajit Barman.

According to the source, no injuries or casualties were recorded in the event.

Nonetheless, the criminals were able to flee the scene of the crime.

Police are making more inquiries. 

Another episode took place in Assam’s Tinsukia district where a bunch of miscreants had set a vehicle on fire. The vehicle belonged to a tea garden manager and the episode took place at Raidang tea estate at around 4-5pm.

Fortunately, the manager managed to get out of the situation in a healthy condition. The incident took place on 20th of February, Monday and the tea garden manager has been identified as Jagdish Singh Phulera.

The miscreant attempted the attack while Jagdish Singh Phulera was on his regular inspection at Sector 31 of the mentioned tea estate. As per sources, the miscreants intended to kill Phulera as they set his vehicle on fire.

A student body namely, The All Assam Tea Tribe Student’s Association (ATTSA) raised their voice against the matter and demanded investigation regarding the case.

One of the ATTSA leader stated that, the manager was attacked in the past as well. They student body informed that the manager was being attacked for three time and several FIRs has been registered in connection with the same.

However, they alleged that the administration has not yet acted against the matter. The concerned police department stated that, no man was hurt in yesterday’s episode, and the department has begun their investigation.
