GUWAHATI: A scary episode came forth from Assam’s Gossaigaon sub division, where senior advocate received horrific acid attack by miscreants. 

A group of unidentified men entered the advocate’s house on 17th of February, Friday. The incident occurred at his own residence, and the attackers had thrown acid directly on face. The senior advocate has been identified as Abdus Samad Ahmed. 

The culprits entered Ahmed’s home unalarmed and threw acid at him. As per the reports, the victim is also assigned as a senior member of Gossaigaon Lawyer’s Association. As soon as the miscreants were done, they fled away from the situation in a blink of an eye. 

Later, the advocate was rushed to a hospital and currently going under treatment in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Ahmed is resident of Padmabil village under Gossaigaon district. A case has been registered and police has already began an investigation.

Initially, Ahmed was admitted in the Gossaigaon RNB hospital , however due to deterioration in his health he was referred to GMCH in Guwahati. As per sources, the senior advocate arrived at his home at around 6pm on Friday evening after concluding his official tasks at Judicial Dandadhi Court in Gossaigaon.

The lawyer’s association has urged the concerned police department to initiate a probe into the matter and take stern action against the culprits. A havoc like situations occurred in the area following the incident.

On December 2022, a 17 year old girl became the victim of acid attack by a 20 year old man in Assam’s Barpeta district. The prime cause behind the attack was unrequited and unfinished love affair. The attacker took the step after his lover decided to break up with him. The accused was identified as Meher Ali.
