DIBRUGARH: To examine the readiness of the responding agencies and to check the Disaster Management plan of Dibrugarh Cancer Centre (A unit of Assam Cancer Care Foundation) during emergencies like earthquake and fire, a 2-day long Mega Mock Exercise has been conducted successfully on January 19 and January 20. The mock drill exercise was conducted collaboratively by National Disaster Response Force, District Disaster Management Authority and Dibrugarh Cancer Centre.
Various government departments like Fire & Emergency Services, Assam Medical College & Hospital, Assam Police, APRO, PWD (Electrical), PWD (Buildings), APDCL, CRPF, Civil Defence and NGO (SEWA) participated in the drill. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. Nabajyoti Choudhury, Medical Director of Dibrugarh Cancer Centre.
A tabletop discussion with a detailed presentation on rescue operation & briefing on mock drill exercise was presented by Ramkaran Swamy, NDRF Co. Commander (12 BN, Itanagar). Debasmita Das, Field Officer (Disaster Management) of District Disaster Management Authority participated in the programme as liaison Officer.
The second day started with deployment of forces of different emergency services at Dibrugarh Cancer Centre, AMCH campus, Barbari with an active participation of 50 officials from the different departments. Mock exercise on search and rescue operation was done by NDRF& Civil Defense in collaboration with the rest of the stakeholders. Another mock drill on fire emergency was done by Fire & Emergency Services, Dibrugarh. The mock drill was attended by more than 150 participants.
