Assam: Month-long celebration of 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah inaugurated

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah throughout September 2023 across the nation and the inaugural programme with regard to Nagaon district was held wherein the District Commissioner of Nagaon, Narendra Kumar Shah formally launched the programme at the Kamala Devi Todi Smriti Bhawan.

NAGAON: The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah throughout September 2023 across the nation and the inaugural programme with regard to Nagaon district was held wherein the District Commissioner of Nagaon, Narendra Kumar Shah formally launched the programme at the Kamala Devi Todi Smriti Bhawan.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Commissioner urged the Anganwadi workers to work in mission mode in realizing the goals of Poshan Maah and make it a success. He described the significant role of Anganwadi workers and the Women and Child Development Department in shaping a healthy child who in turn can build a stronger nation. The DC also participated in a cake-cutting ceremony where the cake made from millet was prepared by Anganwadi workers.

The focal point of Poshan Maah 2023 is to cultivate widespread awareness concerning critical human life stages: pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. The aim is to foster nutritional understanding across India through a theme centred on ‘Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat’ (Nutrition-rich India, Educated India, Empowered India).

Aligning with the objectives of Poshan Maah 2023, Diha Naam on the issues were performed by the Anganwadi workers of Khagorijan Project under Borbheti Gaon Panchayat, a dance programme of children under Shivhashatn Anganwadi Kendra, Urban Project and a story-telling programme was also carried out by the children and Anganwadi workers of Khagorijan Project, Senchowa Gaon Panchayat. The District Commissioner also inaugurated a millet-based recipes and food items demonstration stall at the venue.

Additional District Commissioner Phyllis V L Hrangchal, Sub-Divisional Health officer Dr B G Baruah, District Social Welfare Officer Bidyut Hazarika, CDPOs of various projects under the Nagaon district, Anganwadi workers along with officials and staff of district Women and Child Development department and district administration were present on the occasion.
