NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party representative from Jorhat in the Rajya Sabha, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa has been appointed as one of the National Secretaries for the party and the only one from the state and the entire Northeast India.

The chief minister of the state, Himmanta Biswa Sharma made the announcement regarding this development over tweeter. Sharing the list of the office holders at the national level of the party, he congratulated Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and all the new newly appointed officials. He also expressed his gratitude towards prime minister Narendra Modi.

“Heartiest congratulations to all the newly-appointed office bearers of BJP4India, including our esteemed colleague from Assam, Shri Kamakhya Tasa, on his appointment as the National Secretary of BJP. With the guidance of Hon PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, I have full confidence that each one of you will serve the party and the nation with dedication and excellence. Your contributions will undoubtedly lead to greater progress and prosperity for our country. The news of Tasa's appointment was made public through a tweet by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Taking to Twitter, Sarma extended his heartiest congratulations to all the newly-appointed office bearers of BJP, with a special mention for Tasa's elevation as the National Secretary,” mentioned Himanta Biswa Sarma over Twitter.

Meanwhile, the 39 organizational districts of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) lodged as many as 283 FIRs in various police stations in the State today against Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora for his recent statement of Lord Srikrishna vis-à-vis 'love jehad'. BJYM's state president, Sidhanku Ankur Barua, said in a statement, "State Congress president Bhupen Bora made a public statement relating Lord Krishna to love jehad and connecting love jehad with the Mahabharata. This statement has exposed the Congress' anti-India, anti-Indian culture, and anti-Sonatan Hindu faith. His statement is also a threat to the Assamese way of life. We demand the immediate arrest of Bhupen Borah so as to bring him to justice."
