Guwahati: Parliamentarian Pradan Baruah who represents Assam's Lakhimpur constituency in the Lower House tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19 today.
As per reports, Baruah tested positive while undergoing the mandatory tests for the public representatives before attending the Parliament session.
Baruah had earlier reached Delhi for the monsoon session of the Parliament that commenced today. After testing positive for the virus, the MP has been kept under home isolation at his Delhi residence.
Baruah is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. Formerly, he was a member of Indian National Congress but defected from Congress before the Assembly election (along with Himanta Biswa Sarma) in 2016.
