GUWAHATI: While investigating the twin murder case of Bandana Kalita, police has found out that the murderer was planning to kill one more family member from her in-laws. 

Bandana Kalita who is currently in the custody for mercilessly murdering her husband and mother in law, wanted to kill someone from the Dey family. The shocking revelation was made by the police, however, on the grounds of sensitivity the authorities denied to mention the name of the person, who was on target point of Bandana.

On the other hand, Assam police recovered blood-stained clothes of Amarjyoti Dey on Monday during a search operation. The team also got hands on a pillow cover from the backyard of Amarawati Apartments.

It is worth mentioning here that, authorities have extended the time of custody by four more days for Bandana Kalita and her partners in crime Arup Deka and Dhanti Deka. The three accused were presented before the court on Monday.

Arup Deka while the interrogation process informed police that, Bandana had offered him an amount of Rs 2 lakh, in order to help her with the murder. He later utilised the money to get married.

Bandana along with the duo killed and chopped both her husband and mother in law and stuffed the body parts inside the refrigerator for three days. Later, the trio had dumped the body parts in Dawki. The shocking episode came to light after seven months of its occurrence on 17th of February, 2023.

The ghastly twin murder case of Noonmati got subjected to an additional search operations by the Guwahati Police on Saturday in Meghalaya's Dawki. Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka, Kalita's two co-defendants in the terrifying twin murder case, were being transported to Dawki for the purpose of conducting search operations.

The machete used in the murder case was sent for forensic analysis on last Friday. During search activities that were started on Thursday, the Guwahati police were able to recover the razor-sharp machete from Bondajan beel.

The three accused, Bandana Kalita, Arup Deka, and Dhanjit Deka, reportedly underwent an hour of questioning at the Noonmati Police Station prior to the search operation.

Subsequently, police carried out a store raid in the neighbourhood of Patharquary, where Imran Ansari, the proprietor, was also taken into custody. “We have established that Bondona Kalita purchased the machete from Imran for Rs 320” the police informed.
