Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on
Thursday extended Christmas greetings to the people of the State on the
occasion of the holy festival of Christmas.
CM Sonowal said, "I wish everyone, in the State and outside, a merry Christmas. May this occasion bring peace and strengthen the spirit of universal brotherhood, compassion and harmony".
He also said that Christmas is a joyous occasion to reaffirm one's commitment towards social harmony, development and prosperity, while supporting the shared interests and aspirations of all parts of society for inclusive growth. He also urged the people to follow the principles and teachings of Lord Jesus Christ to strengthen the values of friendship and camaraderie.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio also extends greeting for Christmas to everyone through a social media post. CM Rio took to his Twitter handle and wrote,"Christmas is a season of peace, joy and hope. It signifies the end of despair, beginning of hope and a time of new blessings from God. I wish you all a blessed."
Only a few hours left for the holy festival of Christmas and the celebrations for Christmas is all set almost in every nook and corner around the world amid the Covid pandemic abiding protocols. Churches has been decorated with flowers, lights, and also sanitized.
The Christian community is ready to welcome the holy festival with great enthusiasm.
However, this year in most of the places Christmas will be celebrate through online.
Jesus Christ the Saviour who the Christians believe is the Son of God was born on the 25th of December and this very day, the Christians celebrate Christmas. And before this day, pre-Christmas is celebrated everywhere.
