Nagaon: A police squad from Nagaon and the excise department recovered a large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and country liquor from the Demow region of Raha district.

According to the police, a raid was performed at the home of a resident called Prasanta Das based on information from the excise and the police team.

During the raid, the team discovered a large cargo of booze worth Rs 80 thousand at market prices.

The alcohol was unlawfully kept for resale at a higher price. A person has been detained, and a criminal complaint has been lodged. The authorities are reportedly taking steps to crack down on any unlawful storage facilities for liquor and other such things. It should be noted that, depending on the place and time, liquor is regularly supplied in "black" at a higher market charge.

Recently on 30 December, a raid by the Bishwanath police station uncovered 1200 cartons of Arunachali beer.

Despite the state government's tight prohibitions on alcohol consumption Bishwanath police have intercepted a significant shipment of Arunachali beer. The driver of the vehicle carrying the liquor bottles is still being interrogated by the police administration. Sanjit Kumar Roy, Officer in Charge of Bishwanath Chariali Sadar police station, intercepted a truckload of alcohol on its way from Arunachal to Bishwanath Chariali after following a secret lead.

Meanwhile, the Bishwanath Sadar police station has seized the beer-filled truck and reported it to the District Excise Department, which is investigating whether the Arunachali beer in the truck is legal or not.
