Assam: National-level seminar held in Nowgong College (Autonomous)

NAGAON4: Department of History and in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of historic Nowgong College (Autonomous) organized a two-day-long national seminar at Nowgong College (Autonomous) from Friday onwards. Professor Rajib Handique, HoD, Department of History, Gauhati University inaugurated the seminar on Friday. Pradeepjyoti Mahanta, retired professor of Tezpur University was present during the inaugural session of the as the keynote speaker.

Parag Phukan, professor of Department of Geology, Gauhati University attended the closing ceremony of the seminar on Saturday as the chief guest. Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of the College, chaired the closing session of the seminar.

While addressing the occasion, Professor Phukan pointed out that the cultural heritage is not only an asset to the Department of Art, but also the content of many subjects such as science, commerce, etc. Rasmita Phukan, co-convener of the seminar, explained the recommendations, suggestions taken in the seminar. The seminar includes creating awareness for the preservation of cultural heritage as well as nature heritage, including traditional education in the college curriculum.

During the closing session, Dr Arani Saikia, convenor of the seminar, presented the vote of thanks.

The seminar concluded four technical sessions on the closing day. The technical discussion sessions were conducted by Dr Biman Hazarika, principal, Dhing College, Dr Parashmani Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Cultural Studies, Tezpur University, Dr Sanjay Dey, Professor, Nowgong College, and Dr Farista Yasmin, Professor, Nowgong College. Over 65 scholars and other research students presented papers in presence of over 200 attendees.
