Assam: New Aayakar Bhawan inaugurated in Dibrugarh

The newly-constructed premises of the Income Tax Residential Complex and Aayakar Bhawan, Dibrugarh were inaugurated by Nitin Gupta, Chairman, CBDT in the presence of Pr.CCIT, NER Raju Tayeng, and other senior officers and officials of the department and other stakeholders.

DIBRUGARH: The newly-constructed premises of the Income Tax Residential Complex and Aayakar Bhawan, Dibrugarh were inaugurated by Nitin Gupta, Chairman, CBDT in the presence of Pr.CCIT, NER Raju Tayeng, and other senior officers and officials of the department and other stakeholders.

Chairman Nitin Gupta first inaugurated the Income Tax Department Residential Complex at Lachit Nagar, Mancotta Feeder Road, Dibrugarh and planted Dillenia Indica (Elephant Apple) trees in the Micro Forest of the Residential Complex. Later, the chairman, CBDT inaugurated the newly-built Aayakar Bhawan.

Many senior officers of the region like CCIT, Shillong, AK Ambastha, PCIT, Guwahati, N. Longvah, IRS, CIT (Admin & TPS) GG Kamei, IRS PCIT Shillong, D. Sawkmie, IRS, PCIT Central Sukhveer Singh Choudhury, IRS and CIT TDS, CIT (I&CI), CSIT (Appeal), CIT (Audit) were also present in both the programmes. The event post inauguration of Aayakar Bhawan, Dibrugarh started with rendition of Saraswati Vandana by school children from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dibrugarh and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chairman and other dignitaries.

Dignitaries present and other officers and officials who were closely associated with the project and rendered their services with dedication and devotion in bring the mega project to light were felicitated by presentation of mementos and acknowledging their contributions.

Pr.CCIT, NER, Raju Tayeng, while addressing the gathering, briefly narrated the history of journey of Income Tax Department in NER and in Dibrugarh in particular.

He apprised the gathering about purchasing of land for the residential complex in 1995, bifurcation of land between Income Tax Department and Customs & Central Excise Department in 2014 and efforts taken by various senior officers and officials thereafter because of which the dream has become reality. He expressed gratitude to all those officers and staff who contributed towards purchasing of land and in making the dream of having their own office building and residential complex in Dibrugarh a reality. He also emphasized the need of better Income Tax office spaces for smooth functioning of the department and for providing better services to the tax-payers.

The Chairman, CBDT, Nitin Gupta, congratulated the officers and officials of the department on the occasion and stated that the CBDT has been emphasizing developing the infrastructure of the department. He also praised the team work done by the officers and officials of NER and other stakeholders for creating the magnificent infrastructure at Dibrugarh, and exhorted that team work should continue.

The good works done in one region can be replicated in other regions or can be further improved. He also appealed to the tax payers of the region to come forward for paying due taxes on time to maintain a steady growth of Direct Tax Collection in the north-eastern region shown in the last 2-3 years. The representatives of all the three officers and staff associations of the department also addressed the gathering. GG Kamei, Commissioner of Income Tax (Admin & TPS), NER offered the vote of thanks acknowledging all the senior officers for sparing their valuable time to attend the programme and also all those who have directly or indirectly contributed in giving shape and taking the project to the finishing line and in organizing the inaugural function successfully.
