Guwahati: The Assam Government has taken two decisions regarding inter-state passengers and the cremation of COVID positive patients. At the same time, it was announced that the Covid-19-related restrictions would remain in force in the containment zones until September 30.
Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the two decisions made by the Health and welfare department in Assam.
In view of the Unlock 4.0 guidelines, a person who travels outside Assam and returns within 96 hrs will not be quarantined subject to conditions. The traveller will have to undergo a Rapid Antigen test.
As per protocol, if the Rapid Antigen test result comes out positive, he/she shall undergo home isolation/treatment in the COVID care centre or hospital.
Assam Health and Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed that up to Rs 5,000 assistance will be provided towards cremation of dead Covid positive patients, if family or relatives do not claim the body or are unable to bear the cost. He also notified that for this purpose, the cost will be provided by the National Health Mission(NHM), Assam.
