DULIAJAN: One of the known sporting events of the state, the prestigious OIL All Assam Junior Tennis Championship (OAAJTC) will held from 1 December to 6 December 2023. The event will be hosted at the tennis courts of the Zaloni Club of Oil India Limited in Duliajan.

The preparations for the OIL All Assam Junior Tennis Championship are going on at a fast pace at the Zaloni Club and getting ready to host a large number of participants. This tournament is sponsored by OIL and will be conducted under the aegis of the All Assam Tennis Association (AATA). After the tournament is flagged off on 1 December, the matches will be held for 5 days, that is from 2 December to 6 December.

As informed by the organiser, the tournament will be held under 6 (six) total categories namely under 12 categories for boys and girls, under 14 categories for boys and girls and under 18 categories for boys and girls. The total prize money of the tournament, including winners, runner-ups, semi-finalists, and quarter-finalists has been declared as INR 2,60,000.00 (Two Lakhs Sixty Thousand only).

Previously, the OIL-NFR North East Half Marathon took place in Dibrugarh, marking an impressive turnout of 800 participants across three categories. The event started and concluded at the Bogibeel Bridge, which stands as the longest rail-cum-road bridge in the country. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli, flagged off the marathon in the presence of senior officials from Oil India Limited and NF Railways. Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, District Commissioner Bikram Kairi, and SP Shwetank Mishra were among the notable attendees at the sporting event.
