GUWAHATI: Security forces in Duliajan, Assam, conducted a raid in a residential area in an effort to reduce drug use and trafficking. As a result, three drug users were detained.
A group of security personnel, comprising members of the Oil Security Force and local police officers, carried out the operation. Bitu Darji, Deep Chetri, and Surenjit Kalita were the names of the three people that were taken into custody. The fact that the security forces discovered a sizable quantity of cocaine in their possession proved they were engaged in drug trafficking.
Investigations are still ongoing, so the precise amount and kind of drugs recovered have not yet been made public. The raid was carried out as part of a larger initiative by law enforcement organisations to combat drug use and trafficking in the area.
Drug misuse has grown to be a serious problem in the region, with many victims of addiction and those affected by its negative effects. The authorities are eager to address the issue head-on and hold the accountables. The drug users were turned over to the Duliajan police after their arrest for further investigation and legal action.
They are being brought before a court for a trial after the police filed a case against them in accordance with the pertinent legal provisions.
Locals in Goroimari, Assam, decided to take action against the drug problem there and caught three peddlers on Monday. As per sources, the village security unit captured three persons for selling narcotics nearby and afterwards turned them over to authorities with the assistance of several local, aware youths.
The incident took place at Goroimari town in Assam's Kamrup district. The local village security unit gave Rabiul Haque, a resident of Laruajan village in the Goroimari subdivision, a thrashing when it was discovered that he was trying to sell drugs.
In addition, it was discovered during his interrogation that two other people, Rakib Hussain and Saddam Hussain, both inhabitants of Mohimari in Goroimari, were also participating in the drug trade.
On the basis of this, the locals of Goroimari also detained Rakib and Saddam Hussain. They were also found to be in possession of up to six drug containers, 11 empty containers, and a syringe for injecting drugs.
