TAMULPUR: An operation carried out by the security agencies led to the seizure of a large quantity of gold along with the apprehension of one person in connection with the smuggled gold.

The Daranga Special Operation Party of the 64th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal and BIT Out Post carried out a joint operation. The operation was led by inspection N Kesho Sing was carried out in the Sashipur village located on the international border with Bhutan.

A total of twenty-five numbers of gold biscuit was seized from the possession of the person apprehended by the authorities. The total quantity of the recovered gold is said to weigh around 500 gms and the market value for the same is said to be around Rs 35 lakhs. It was mentioned that the gold was smuggled from neighbouring Bhutan.

The apprehended man was identified as Abdul Rahman Muktar belonging to Bangalore in Karnataka. It was mentioned that the gold was smuggled in from Bhutan into Assam and thereafter planned to be moved to New Delhi. He was being questioned by the officials at the Sashastra Seema Bal camp.

Previously authorities in Assam's Badarpur successfully conducted a search operation based on specific intelligence inputs, resulting in the seizure of narcotics with an estimated value exceeding Rs 70 lakhs. The operation, spearheaded by Badarpur Police, took place in the Karimganj district of Assam, leading to the apprehension of five individuals involved in the illicit drug trade.

The investigation was prompted by confidential informants who suggested that a group of six individuals, including a woman, were actively engaged in smuggling narcotics in the region. Acting swiftly on this information, law enforcement officers executed the operation, leading to the confiscation of approximately 277.22 grams of heroin from the group. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Hassan Ali, Najir Uddin, Babul Hussain Laskar, Lalsanjo, and Tunhaulian Langel. Of these, the first three suspects hail from Badarpur, while the remaining two are residents of Churachandpur in Manipur.
