GUWAHATI: On Sunday 17 April, it came to light that a youth congress leader from Assam's Sadiya joined the banned military outfit ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) Independent.

The Congress leader has been identified as Janardan Gogoi, a resident of Uday Nagar in the Sadiya town which is in the Tinsukia district of Assam.

In a recent development of the case, one person has been detained by the Assam police for his link with Janadan Gogoi joining the banned militant organization.

The detained person has been identified as Swapnil Borpatragohain hailing from Sengelibari village in the Betbari area of Assam's Sivasagar district.

Swapnil was apprehended by a team of police on Sunday from the Sivasagar district of Assam for his alleged link with Janardan Gogoi's case.

The Sivasagar police later handed over Swapnil to the Sadiya police during the midnight hours on Sunday.

Earlier the congress youth Janardan Gogoi who joined ULFA (I) shared a Facebook post where he informed about his association with the outfit.

Janardan in his official Facebook account wrote a long post mentioning that he has joined ULFA (I) and also explained the reason for his extreme step.

In the post, the congress leader explained his decision of joining the outfit to his wife who is pregnant at present.

According to reports, Janardan left his home in Sadiya and joined the ULFA camp in Myanmar led by Aicheng Assam.

Janardan stated that there are numerous political groups in Assam that are continuously working together to completely destroy the identity of the Assamese people.

In his statement, Gogoi also added that he cannot wait anymore to see his own people being totally destroyed in their own homeland because of being helpless.

He further wrote that he cannot keep his hand still even after witnessing the misery of his own people who have become the victims of manipulation and lies since many years.
