GUWAHATI: According to reports that surfaced on Tuesday, a person was killed in a serious road accident in Bokakhat, Assam. Initial reports state that a pick-up vehicle and a truck collided head-on in the Latabari hamlet of Bokakhat subdivision in Assam's Golaghat district, close to an Indian Oil petrol station. The mishap happened on the night as per sources.

According to another report, the accident resulted in the immediate death of one youth and the injury of three others. The deceased was identified as Uttar Pradesh native Nirmal Ram Kumar. In the interim, those hurt were sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for further care.

On Monday, several people were injured in a serious road collision in Guwahati's Kahilipara region. As per reports, the tragedy occurred when a city bus lost control and crashed into the offices of the Axom Sarva Siksha Abhijan Mission in Kahilipara. The bus is also said to have crashed with another car.

According to sources, two people were seriously injured in the event. They were transported to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) right away.

Earlier this month, a road accident on the national highway near Brahmajan area in Assam's Gohpur left a number of people hurt, among them a pregnant mother.

Initial reports state that a Tata Magic passenger car that was travelling from Ghahigaon to Gohpur collided with the highway's wayside divider. According to witnesses who were on the scene, the driver lost control while attempting to save a motorbike rider who quickly rushed from the front.

On 18 June, a horrific car accident killed four people, including two ladies, and badly injured one at Golai AOD terminal under Digboi police station in Tinsukia district. Everyone belongs to the same family. According to reports, five people in a new Tata Tiago car with no number plate were going home to Ledu after attending a wedding in Dibrugarh. While three people died on the spot, Amit Dutta (24) of Jagun, Subhash Gope and Disha Gope (30) of Ledu Bazar, Sadhana Gope succumbed to her injuries at AMCH Dibrugarh.
