Assam: Orientation meet held in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA : Aiming at to reduce mortality among children below 5 years in Tinsukia district, a district level orientation meeting on SAANS (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) was held on Thursday at ASHA Griha Tinsukia among the senior doctors, in-charges of all the blocks, NHM district and block programme officials. Dr Bornali Dutta Borah, senior paediatrician-cum-SDMHO (HQ) delivered the lecture on the concept as a resource person. She said that Pneumonia is one of the major causes of mortality among children below 5 years who also explained the objectives of this campaign as to create awareness and mobilize the community for pneumonia protection, prevention, early identification, management of Pneumonia by strengthening facility level management of severe Pneumonia to reduce mortality. The campaign which began on November 12 will continue till February 29, 2024, said Dr Borah.
