Assam: Orientation programme on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’

KOKRAJHAR: A district level meeting-cum-orientation programme of Mission Shakti with special focus on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was held at the DC’s conferences hall in Kokrajhar on Friday.

The programme was held in association with district administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Women and Child Development department. The main objective of the programme was to orient Mission Shakti components to all the heads of the line departments and collaboration with respective stakeholders in implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. The session on gender sensitization was done by DMC, DHEW, Kokrajhar.

In his speech, the District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi called upon all the Heads of the Departments (HoD) to write down three roles of men which women can’t and three roles of women which men can’t. He also quoted that every department should talk on the importance of gender sensitization in every meeting, block level, VCDC level, to bring awareness on gender issues, roles and responsibilities to break the gender stereotypes and promote Beti Bachao Beti Padhao objectives. The programme was also attended by ADCs, Assistant Commissioner, Civil SDO of Gossaigaon and all the heads of Line Departments under the Kokrajhar district.
