BAJALI: Plying of overloaded and old polluted vehicles continue to flout rules endangering the lives of Pathsala residents. Locals blamed the authority concerned for not taking strict measures against erring drivers. Commuters said most of the overloaded and old vehicles were not questioned by the Transport department and traffic police in NH-127 Indo-Bhutan road connecting Pathsala to Bhutan.

Locals claimed that unregistered, old vehicles that are spewing black smoke drive around freely, endangering public health as environmental pollution increases daily. They also alleged, roads have been damaged by overloaded dumpers and posing a threat to the lives of commuters. But the Transport department have become mute spectators.
