Assam painter Kasturi Hazarika exhibits work at Norman Rea Gallery, UK

GUWAHATI: Kasturi Hazarika has exhibited her paintings at the Norman Rea Gallery, University of York, the UK, as a part of a student led event raising awareness on the issue of violence against women. Kasturi, in her paintings, is bringing the analogy of nature for women, through which she brings attention to the fact that how the women's body is a misused space, used and abused, leading to the destruction of its beauty. The women's body is not something to be ashamed of, but it's a thing of beauty, which needs to be treated with love, respect, care and nurturing.

According to a release, Kasturi through her paintings is trying to bring attention to the fact that the way the modern women is waking up to the atrocities meted out to her, nature too is waking up to the abuses in the form of environmental damage hurled against nature, by human beings, with their environmentally destructive behaviours.
