DARRANG: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption(DVAC) in Assam arrested the Lat Mandal of Patharighat Revenue Circle in the Darrang district of Assam on Wednesday.
The Lat Mandal has been identified as Hari Das Singha who demanded 18000 rupees from one Pankaj Deka for the land mutation but under swift action of The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Singha was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Singha was picked up by a unit of the DVAC and was handed over to Assam Police's custody where Singha is being grilled for more information on whether there are any more share takers in this whole process.
A case has been registered in ACB PS on 07/09/2022 vide ACB P. S Case No. 36/2022 u/s 7(a)of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against Shri Hari Das Singha, Lat Mandal of Office of the Circle Officer, Patharighat Revenue Circle, Darrang.
ADGP(Law&Order), GP Singh, IPS tweeted, "Sri Hari Das Singha Lat Mondal of Patharighat Circle Officer Darrang District has been trapped and arrested red-handed today by a team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for land mutation of the complainant."
It is to be mentioned here that under the able leadership of GP Singh, DIRVAC has been able to apprehend more than 40 corrupt officers of various government departments this year.
Notably, a few days back, Lat Mandal of Karimganj Sadar Circle was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption for demanding Rs.35,000 from a person who had come to him for mutation of land.
DIRVAC's mission against corruption in the state of Assam has been commendable.
