MORIGAON: The appalling state of Khalni ME school has drawn criticism from everyone in the district, especially since the chief minister of Assam just declared that he would be giving scooters to teachers in an effort to gain their support. Khalni ME School, located in the Mayang, Morigaon area, employs a small number of teachers. For eight classrooms, there are just four teachers and 140 students. Two of them work as tutors and receive a salary of Rs 10,000 each month. It is important to note that the school is experiencing numerous infrastructure issues. When the ME School merged with Khalni Primary School in 2022—which is situated roughly 200 metres away from the ME school—mayhem broke out at the school.

Due to their forced attendance of only two classes, 140 pupils have experienced a great deal of hardship. Eight classes of students are taught in an open community hall. A week ago, Sangeeta Duwara, the instructor, who was hired in 2012 at Khalani Primary School, was moved to Jorhat. At the moment, the school is operating without Hindi, maths or science teachers.

There are two polling places at the school, although it is in terrible shape right now. The primary and ME schools have been combined by the department. However, there aren't enough rooms, benches, or desks. The administration of the school does not take any action to construct more school housing. The government must address the issues facing instructors and establish a positive learning environment for pupils, say the teachers and parents.
