Pathsala: In a remarkable achievement, a youth of Pathsala, Khanin Roy completed a 1000-km walkathon in 28 days.

He started his journey to spread awareness against drugs and depression from Dhubri in the first part of December 2020 and reached his target - Shantipur under Arunachal Lower Dibang Valley district successfully on January 5, 2021.

Khanin had earlier swum across the River Brahmaputra and completed non-stop walking from Pathsala to Guwahati. The organization named Brain and Drain have been working in Pathsala since 2013 and campaigning has been done from 2016. "My main aim is to make people fit physically and free from depression and drugs. I am doing such activities in order to spread the message to the society and it is our first step towards keeping everybody fit," said Khanin.

He said that he had already taken many unique steps one after another in the last few years to create awareness against drug addiction and depression. He also said that depression was one of the leading causes for suicide cases. Depression and drug addiction have compelled youths to take the extreme step. In a message to the youth, he said, "The youth should pursue activities like swimming, cycling, walking, and yoga to stay spiritually fit and active."

Roy, a kickboxing champion, received the Best Fighter of the Northeast award in 1999 and has won several medals at the national-level championship.
