Guwahati: Assam Police on Monday apprehended two mandals for their alleged involvement in the flood relief material's embezzlement in Assam's Sarthebari.

As per reports, the two accused mandals named Ajit Deka and Kanteshwar Deka allegedly took 'Dal' and 'Chapar' to their house in the name of flood relief from Sarthebari Revenue Circle.

Later, acting on an FIR filed by circle officer Tridip Kumar Konwar, police nabbed them.

Reportedly, the house of accused Ajit Deka is in Bangapara in Sarthebari and Kanteshwar Deka's house in Vyaskushi, and both were working at the Sarthebari revenue circle.

The reports also claimed that locals seized four sacks of rice and 9 sacks of sapor while both the accused were transporting them to the Kanteshwar Dekar's house.

Meanwhile, Ajit Deka dropped two sacks of rice and sapor at his house in Bangapara.

Upon receiving the information of the same, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Khanindra Das too reached the circle office.
