Assam Police Arrests Bangladeshi Youth From Mankachar

MANKACHAR: A youth of Bangladeshi origin was arrested by the state police during an operation carried out at in the South Salmara-Mankachar district of the state.

A patrol team of Assam Police picked up a doubtful person from near the Beparipara Bridge in the Sukhsor locality located near Hatsingimari in the South Salmara- Mankachar district of Assam. On interrogating him, he was found to be a Bangladeshi citizen who had entered the country illegally. The incident took place at around 12 AM. It was also revealed that the youth in question belongs to the Sonarpara village in Tegra which comes under the Birol Police Station in the Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.

It also came to light that the youth has been working in the national capital of New Delhi for the last nine months.

Raising serious doubt over the efficiency of the BSF, a youth from Bangladesh crossed the double barricade with his motorbike at the Sutarkandi border and easily entered Karimganj a few days back. The mysterious entry of the Bangladeshi youth on the eve of Bakri Idd had created much hullabaloo in the bordering town on Wednesday night as Karimganj MLA Kamalakha Dey Purkayastha came out on the street and pointed fingers at the BSF. The motorbike bearing registration number ‘Sylhet H 14-9638, written in Bengali, was found abandoned at Old Station Road, though the biker was missing. Sources said the youth crossed two BSF barricades at Sutarkandi land port with his speeding bike in the late afternoon and rushed to the town area. A good number of BSF jawans guarded these barricades, but surprisingly, none could stop the mysterious biker. Further, how could two barricades remain open? This is another serious question that demands an answer. Sources said the BSF chased the speeding bike, but the youth vanished in the crowd.
