Assam Police busts illegal narcotics racket, two arrested

Naharkatia (Dibrugarh): An illegal drugs racket was busted by Assam Police in Naharkatia, Dibrugarh. Acting on a tip-off, a team of police from Dibrugarh and Naharkatia launched a search operation in Naharkatia on Saturday.

The team of police recovered heroin worth more than Rs 5 lakh and seized an LPG cylinder truck. Two suspected drug smugglers were arrested.

After receiving instruction from Prateek Thube, the Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh, the team of police chased the LPG cylinder truck from Dibrugarh. Thube reportedly got the information from a source in Dimapur.

After a long chase, the police could stop the vehicle and seized around 33 grams of heroin from the drug peddlers. The two suspected drug peddlers are Satyajit Moran, the driver and Prahlad Borah, the helper of the truck.
