GUWAHATI: Eight people who allegedly presented falsified documents during this year's police recruitment process were detained by Assam police. The arrested candidates have been identified as Samar Das, Abdul Rahman, Firoz Ahmed, Ashok Barman, Javid Ahmed, Ismail Hussain, Anirban Das, and Dildar-al Hussain.

The CID has filed a case under CID P.S Case No. 05/2022 U/S 120(B)/420/467/468/471 IPC and has begun a day-to-day investigation in response to a complaint made by the Nodal Officer, State Level Police Recruitment Board regarding the submission of fake computer certificates by a select group of candidates for the positions of AB, UB, Fire Services, and APRO constables.

CID's Superintendent of Police made a statement saying "All of these candidates were summoned to CID HQ, where they underwent questioning and had various incriminating documents taken from them. In order to confirm the existence of the computer coaching institutes, CID teams conducted thorough field investigations in a number of Assam districts, including Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and Dibrugarh, among others. "

The documents in question included admission letters, fee receipt counterfoils, attendance registers, fee collecting registers, exam results, and admission counterfoils. And In order to conduct a scientific investigation and make a comparison with the disputed computer certificate provided by the accused candidates, the sample handwriting and signatures of the owners were collected and delivered to the forensic laboratory for further research.

More than 100 candidates from the constable recruitment examinations, which were held in February for more than 9,000 positions, were questioned by the CID on Monday for allegedly giving a fraudulent certificate in order to apply for the positions.

The Government of Assam has been taking strict measures to prevent any kind of fraudulent practices during the recruitment process for its jobs. So much so, that they had closed down mobile internet services across the state during the conducting of the exams for a particular position.
