GUWAHATI: In a recent incident near Guwahati city, Assam police once again thwarted an attempted cattle smuggling operation and apprehended two individuals involved in the act. This marks the latest success in their ongoing efforts to combat illegal cattle trafficking in the region.

According to sources, the police received specific information that led them to intercept a truck at Jorabat, a location known for such smuggling activities. Upon inspection of the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered a startling 32 cattle being transported inside.

These cattle were en route from Numaligarh to Byrnihat, located on the Meghalaya side of the border, according to the information obtained from sources close to the investigation.

The two individuals responsible for this illegal operation have been identified as Ashraful Alam and Zakir Ahmed. Their arrest adds to a growing list of successful interventions by Assam police to combat cattle smuggling activities in the region.

Earlier this month, another noteworthy operation took place at the same location, Jorabat, where Assam police successfully intercepted and rescued 44 cattle that were being illegally transported in a truck. This operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illicit cattle trafficking, identified as Mafizul Khan and Aminul Haque.

Sources indicate that the 44 cattle were being smuggled from Nagaon and were destined for Byrnihat before being intercepted at Jorabat by alert police officers. The animals were found crammed inside the rear of the truck, highlighting the inhumane conditions in which they were being transported.

These incidents serve as a testament to the dedication and vigilance of Assam police in combating cattle smuggling activities in the region.
