Assam Police held one for possession of drugs in Goalpara district

GOALPARA: Along with rest of the State, the Assam Police have geared up drive against the drug mafia in Goalpara district also.

On Tuesday night in such a successful operation at the Rajmita area under Lakhipur police station of Goalpara district, a person was arrested with huge cache of prohibited drugs under his possession.

The arrested person has been identified as Johirul Islam and police recovered 20 grams of heroin, 55190 Nitrosun, 1560 R7 tablets and fake currencies worth Rs 9 lakh from his residence.

The operation was led by Rupjyoti Kalita, headquarter DSP, with the help of Lakhipur police station and Jaleswar outpost. Local people have congratulated the department for the strong initiative against anti-socials.

Rakesh Reddy recently joined as the Superintendent of Police in Goalpara.
