Assam Police launches cattle syndicate crackdown

Gossaigaon: After strict instructions from the Assam Government, Assam Police came into action and launched a crackdown on cattle syndicate. Many persons were arrested by police with the help of the neighbouring States.

Recently in a joint operation with the Bihar Police, the kingpin of the syndicate, Sarfaraj Khan was arrested in Bihar. Earlier in another operation in West Bengal, another person, Dildar Hussain, who was involved in the syndicate, was arrested. Another important person involved in the syndicate, Jahangir was also arrested in an operation in Dhubri. Due to these efforts by the police, cattle smuggling in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district has stopped. Police sources said that further enquiry was going on and more arrests would be made soon.
